Samurai Shun: TidBit of the Day

| May 19, 2011 | 10 Comments

Is it wrong to have a love affair with a knife? As a Christmas present from my sister, I got to select a nice knife (finally – no more dull knives). I tried so many. I simulated chopping, slicing, stabbing (just kidding, no stabbing). Big ones, little ones. Some were gorgeous, but too heavy. Some people raved about, but too weird in my hands. I read the reviews: Wusthof, Henckels….

Shun Kaji from Williams-Sonoma

I’ve never tried on wedding dresses, but I imagine this is how the process feels. You try on many, you study the designers, you watch ‘Say Yes to the Dress,’ but ultimately, when you put the right one on, you just know. I guess it’s true what they say about buying knives – you just have to try them and see how they feel in your hand, as if one feels as if it is an extension of your arm.

Shun Kaji knife

The minute the Shun Kaji knife – forged in the tradition of samurai swords – fell into my hands, I knew it was the one.*

*I’m so excited about it, I haven’t even tried it yet. I’ve just been staring at it.

Be careful that relationship sounds like your more likely to get hurt than Shun. I next in line if it doesn’t work out between you two

  6. I think knives are very sexy (i know, random) but love them and one day when I can afford to do so I’m going to have lots of amazingly beautiful and sharp knives :) OO a Shun, very nice– enjoy it and I’m very excited for u! Were you asked “is this your knife?” by the sales staff?

  7. Peggy says:

Gorgeous! You’ll have to let us know when you use it =)

  8. I don’t blame you for just staring at it. A very nice knife it is, too. My favourite knife was 1 lira (less than a dollar) from the local market. They were being sold from a bucket by an old guy. It’s the perfect size for me and I use it for everything.
