When the weather gets colder, want to head down South? If so, and you find yourself in Fort Myers, a must is Prawnbroker. This is part of a group of fresh fish specialists, but it’s not chain. The low-key restaurant is run by warm, knowledgeable staff – our “server” happened to also had invented their Caesar salad. The owner has his own molasses-oatmeal bread recipe – and these delicious, warm loaves are meant to be crumbly and beautiful. I could have stuffed myself on this bread.
But of course, it’s about the seafood. The clam chowder was ridiculous. It wasn’t full of filler and potatoes, but fresh, plump clams and the warmest, richest chowder.
The shrimp – had it three ways – scampi, stuffed and crunch – were beyond fresh, juicy, and perfect.
The key lime pie, made in Naples (home of the key lime pie) was perfectly tart and rich – none of that frozen stuff.
You will not be disappointed here.
