In the U.S., it would be hard-pressed to find someone who has never had Chinese Food. Jennifer 8. Lee, author of the Fortune Cookie Chronicles, does some impressive and extensive research. For a great history and view of Chinese food around the world, check out her TedX video – it’s super informative and full of humor. If you have any eaten or been curious about Chinese food, this is worth your time. I know I learned a lot!
With a flair for spontaneity, pizzazz, creative excellence and her own unique sense of aesthetic grace and perspective, we have our very dear friend, Belinda (or B, to some of us). Although an incredibly accomplished professional and career woman, B’s down-to-earth approach and demeanor transcends all scenarios, communities and people. She manifests, in her day-to-day, the essence of the word “Zomppa” as demonstrated by her extraordinary commitment to creating sustainable and positive change for us and future generations to come. She’s asked for a dog every year since she was five. Check out Belinda’s work on global education research and coaching: www.hummingbirdrcc.com or more about her portfolio www.belindachiu.com.
40,000 Chinese restaurants! I like that they were invented by the Japanese, popularised by the Chinese and comsumed by the Americans! Crispy shredded beef is exactly as she describes! Very interesting.
Hi Belinda – what a nice video find! Jennifer Lee is such an amazing and humorous speaker. I really enjoyed watching this video and thank you so much for helping to spread and share her fascinating research and seminar!!
Thanks for the link – I enjoyed watching the whole clip! I didn’t know Benkyodo in SF is one of the fortune cookie makers back then! I’ve seen and eaten the Japanese version before but didn’t realize the fortune cookie actually came from that!
