Body of Evidence: TidBit of the Day

Interesting New York Times article last week by Tara Parker-Pope that while the media has made unrealistic super-skinny the “norm,” as a country, we are in denial of how overweight we are. According to one study, those in the normal weight range accurately estimated their body size 80% of the time, compared with 58% of overweight students. 10% of obese people accurately described their body size.

This interesting graphic shows the silhouettes – what do you think?

These silhouettes definitely bring a new perspective to BMI. It’s easier to compare when you have a picture as opposed to just a bunch of numbers.
