Make Real Good Food a Reality!

Remember our incredible partner, Real Good Food, at the Bull City Food Exchange? They are such a hit that communities want to see them grow – but to grow, they need your support. Seeing as how we walked off with some amazing peanut butter chocolate treats, lemon honey, and met some great neighbors while at it…we’re definitely in support!

There is food awesomeness all around you!

Blackberry Ricotta Muffins for example, just posted this afternoon, available for pickup anytime after 5 just down the road.

Real Good Food has been written before on Zomppa. Essentially we’re a food exchange platform where home cooks and gardeners can swap food that they’ve produced and local artisans can sell food directly to the people who value their talents the most.

We got started with an email list-serve in Ann Arbor and have been trading food for a year now with all types of gorgeous food being swapped: Guajillo Butternut Bisque, homemade Praline Granola, fresh backyard herbs, eggs and heirloom tomatoes, Lemon Cardamon Cheesecake, Truffle Chili Mac&Cheese and more.

We’ve learned a lot from our simple email group and realized that in order to facilitate more trades and more vibrant food communities we’re going to need to build a website. If you’re Vegan, you don’t want a pot-roast, even if it’s grass-fed and local, it doesn’t need to be in your inbox. Similarly if you make delicious handpicked jam in September, you cant send an email every day reminding folks… you have jam!

Beyond the basics like food preferences and inventory, there is a great wealth of information that we can introduce to food trading communities like historical data on past trades, a swapper’s reputation, location awareness, private groups for your office or book-club, customized groups like Raw Foodies and so much more.

Here is where we need your help. We’re a small community focused startup and in order to raise the funds necessary to build a useable early website we’re attempting to raise $5 from 3000 people across the country. Right now we have 57 supporters and have visitors from 41 countries. Please take a moment to share our campaign with those you know who love to cook and if you can, join our wonderful contributors and help make Real Good Food a reality in your community!
