In the Thua Thien Hue Province of Vietnam, 40% of those under five live in poverty, that is, less than $15 a month (urban area) or $11 a month (rural area). Friends of Hue Foundation works to meet the urgent needs of those in this province, particularly those who face natural disasters.
Its Food Program tries to meet the needs for basic food and nutrition by distributing rice, noodles, milk, and clean water through a few programs, including its Disaster Relief program and Mobile Clinic Program during monsoon season when food becomes difficult to obtain.

With a flair for spontaneity, pizzazz, creative excellence and her own unique sense of aesthetic grace and perspective, we have our very dear friend, Belinda (or B, to some of us). Although an incredibly accomplished professional and career woman, B’s down-to-earth approach and demeanor transcends all scenarios, communities and people. She manifests, in her day-to-day, the essence of the word “Zomppa” as demonstrated by her extraordinary commitment to creating sustainable and positive change for us and future generations to come. She’s asked for a dog every year since she was five. Check out Belinda’s work on global education research and coaching: www.hummingbirdrcc.com or more about her portfolio www.belindachiu.com.
There are so many in desperate need of help throughout the world; these children are lucky to have these volunteers to help them. I wish we had more like this here in Lebanon, where we are faced on an ongoing basis with refugees and disasters but where help is inadequate; I find myself opening my purse every day several times a day to hand out a bill or two to a beggar, old man, woman or child or simply man peddling in the street, but it is never but a needle in a haystack.
In Colombia we grew up seeing kids asking for food on the streets every day! Here in the USA….sometimes I forget about this sad part of some people lives!
It’s disturbing to realize how much poverty there is in the world, especially among children. Another great initiative.
I can’t believe it! It’s always so shocking how much poverty there is. Little things like this make such a huge difference to those peoples’ lives.
40%… wow that’s so high.
Glad to hear there are someone helping people who need help and I’d love to help as much as I can. Thank you for informing us.
