Ample Harvest: Class Act

| July 13, 2012 | 4 Comments

AmpleHarvest works to eliminate malnutrition and hunger by “encouraging and enabling gardeners to donate their excess harvest to the needy in their community instead of allowing it to rot in the garden.” It is a free database that allows backyard gardeners to find nearby food pantries and information on when and how to donate. It currently has almost 5,000 food pantries in all 50 states in the U.S.

What a great and simple concept – instead of letting fruits and vegetables go to waste in your background, share the bounty.
