Communities
While we love to showcase everything about food all over the world in this magazine, two of our Editors, Belinda and Kat, are based in North Carolina and Northern Ireland respectively. They tend to contribute many articles and tidbits from these regions, hence a dedicated area. We hope to expand on the number of communities around the world here.
Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen: TidBit of the Day
Lucky we are to have a place like Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen in NC. Southern charm and southern food make this is a happy place – the food, first of all, is wonderful. There is the “regular” menu of classics like chicken and dumplings, and a rotating seasonal menu of whatever is the freshest and [...]
Mateo Tapas: TidBit of the Day
It seems Durham is all about tapas these days. A few months ago, I tried out Taberna Tapas, which has great food. Now Mateo Tapas opened up a few doors down (wonderful, but Downtown Durham, please, a pho place!). The vibe and decor is super cool – whereas Taberna has more relaxed family feel, Mateo seems [...]
Hummingbird Bakery: TidBit of the Day
Amy Tournquist of my favorite Durham restaurant, Watts Grocery, has opened up a new bakery, Hummingbird Bakery, in the gorgeous new Samuel H. Scripps Studio across from Duke’s East Campus. This opening is to the delight of many, including myself. I have been hoping for a small bakery which served great (affordable), delicious breakfasts that [...]
Elijah’s, Wilmington: TidBit of the Day
Wilmington, NC is one of my favorite places. Beautiful beaches, warm water, lovely boardwalk. One of my favorite go-to places is Elijah’s on the boardwalk. Overlooking the boardwalk on the Cape Fear River, Elijah’s boasts some of the freshest seafood and flavorful dishes. Don’t forget the appetizers – their calamari and crab dip almost make [...]
EVOS: TidBit of the Day
Sometimes, you just need a quick bite, but to try to find something that is not standard fast food? Not easy. EVOS – with locations in NC and GA – attempts to change fast food. Antibiotic-free, hormone-free, humanely-raised burgers (not to mention, a pretty looking one), organic milk shakes, and organic greens. No toys for [...]
Philly Does Brunch: PFF
So my best friend Derek and I are both from New York, and we both know that brunch is a staple of the New York weekend. But while he’s quite infatuated with brunch, I personally don’t care either way. That is, until I discovered some seriously scrumptious brunch in Philadelphia! Different spots in the city [...]
The George, Wilmington: TidBit of the Day
When it’s 100 degrees outside and you’re in Wilmington trying to cool off, stop by the George which is located right on the boardwalk in the historic part of the city. One of my favorite dishes – be careful, everyone will want some – is their crab and shrimp tortilla chips. This is NOT one [...]
Harlem Cafe in, err… Belfast, Northern Ireland?: Tidbit of the Day
Yes, you hear it right. Harlem is thriving in the bustling streets of Belfast’s city centre. Harlem Cafe is without a doubt, my favourite lunchtime hangout when I am in Belfast for meetings. They also happen to make a pretty mean cappuccino with the proper creamy froth consistency so important to me. I cannot stand [...]
