Not only are their burgers great, but if you are trying to reduce your red meat intake, but they have a fantastic veggie burger and their turkey burger is one of the best I have ever eaten – full of flavor and more over, thick and juicy (not always easy to achieve with turkey burgers).

Of course, a heat of sweet potato fries can’t hurt.

We know: gelato is all the rage. Everyone thinks they have the best one. Well, I may really have found one: Morano Gelato in Hanover, New Hampshire. Raised in the Upper Valley and trained in Sicily, the owner has managed to turn out some of the best gelato I have ever tasted – creamy, rich, but not heavy. From ginger to custard, this gelato will have you returning – no matter how cold it gets outside.

Great thing is if it gets too cold, the place also makes Italian-style espressos and cappuccinos – great place to stop in before or after a film at the nearby Nugget Theatre.

Located in Five Points, Birmingham, AL is a bistro with a chic urban feel and simply amazing food, 26. Sister to the more formal dining, Ocean, 26 offers free wine tasting with local experts and a menu to clamour over.

Their LED-backed bar is fully stocked, and during happy hour, their drinks – and many of their plates – are offered at a bargain price. Especially considering the freshness of their seafood and inventiveness of their dishes – including these spicy tuna croquettes in sushi rice.

A must stop when looking for fantastic food with a great ambiance in Birmingham.

Their sushi is also impressive – fresh fresh fresh. Would not have though such beautiful sushi could be found in a strip mall, but there it was. Takamatsu – I can see why this was voted number one.

As in bacon – almost anything. Including donuts.

It’s a place that’s always packed for its hearty meals – and any place that serves breakfast all day gets an extra point in my book. Although I have minimized my mammal intake, I could not resist trying the sampler with 5 different types of bacon…ranging from honey smoked to chipotle.

I’m glad I did.
