About us
Belinda, Patty, and Tsering became classmates because of our interest and desire to better the world through international diplomacy, trade, and education. We became sisters because of our mutual passion for food and community.
Pretty soon, we pulled Kat, the wonderwoman communications strategist. She is responsible for our funky website. A year later, we are eight women who come with multiple perspectives and have experienced both the feeling of belonging no where and belonging everywhere. Our uniqueness did not deter us from our commonalities, and our commonalities did not diffuse our uniqueness.
In this same regard, our love of food and understanding of how interconnected food is to every dimension of life drove us to challenge existing attitudes towards food. People have become far too removed from their food. This is not a novel idea, and we are encouraged by the growing awareness of the link between food-health-politics-environment-culture-so-on-and-so-forth. However, we found, as mothers and educators and devotees of food that there really wasn’t a space–online or physical–that brought these ideas and concepts and discussions in one place and in a manner accessible and digestable to more people (no pun intended!).
About Belinda
With a flair for spontaneity, pizzazz, creative excellence and her own unique sense of aesthetic grace and perspective, we have our very dear friend, Belinda (or B, to some of us). Although an incredibly accomplished professional and career woman, B’s down-to-earth approach and demeanor transcends all scenarios, communities and people. She manifests, in her day-to-day, the essence of the word “Zomppa” as demonstrated by her extraordinary commitment to creating sustainable and positive change for us and future generations to come. She’s asked for a dog every year since she was five.

About Citadel Moon
Citadel Moon is a feisty force, full of ideas and spirit. She will never be wanting for words, which serves her well as an attorney by day, entrepreneur-writer-mom by night. With two little rambunctious boys keeping her busy, she has learned to juggle childhood allergies and healthy cooking with finesse. From a large and close family, cooking and eating together has always been a priority for this dynamic woman.
About Kat
Kat is not only a whiz at online new media and social networking–she is the brains getting this site up and running!–but she’s also a monster on the tennis courts. Her penchant for honesty and genuine pursuit to lead a good life has garnered her many fans, although she is far too modest to even realize this. A connoisseur of espressos, cappuccinos and Italian gastronomy, Kat will gladly share her opinions in one of four languages.

About Liz
Liz is a scholar and a storyteller. Raised in traditional ways of cooking and caring for the Earth, she is fearless in seeking out ways to give voice to those most underrepresented. From a diverse background herself, she grew up with multiple traditions and foods. Committed to the truth, she is also a lover of delectable snacks from around the globe, reflecting her own multi-perspective on honoring and enjoying the gifts from nature.
About Lys
Lys is a wizard in the kitchen and master multi-tasker. An expert manager dedicated to promoting education and awareness, she is as multilingual as she is multi-talented. While she is proven professional, her charm and sweetness is only matched by her cooking talents. Particularly skilled in baking, her variations in cheesecakes are always in demand, not to mention her other specialities, from flourless chocolate for the gluten-allergic to chocolate lace cookies.
About Patty
We all have a friend in our lives who is smart, witty, intelligent: you give her cold pasta and chicken and she will whip out a gourmet meal in 15 minutes, she makes chicken soup from scratch for her sick neighborhood even though she is nursing a cold herself… you know that friend who will always be there to drive common sense into you, but doesn’t realize that she is as perfect as they come as a mother, wife and friend. That is our Patty…. (She is also practical to a fault sometimes….) With two rambunctious and unquestionably adorable little girls (ages 3 and 1), her days are more than full. Patty’s homemade, organic meals for her family make any gourmand jealous. Don’t get us started on her cupcakes or scones–there’s never an excuse for trading taste and health with her–she manages to combine both.
About Tonija
Tonija comes from a family of foodies and musicians. A salsa dancer and world traveller, she is a master in the kitchen herself (having redesigned and redecorated her own kitchen), whipping up Maryland crabs on a hot summer day or hosting a “small” dinner party for dozens, while tending to her frisky 3-year old daughter and 8-month old son. She is an expert restauranteur as well as an expert manager in the area of international affairs.
About Tsering
Our Tsering is not even fully aware of her true inner strength. Born and raised in exile, she is one of the most grounded and gracious individuals. She will tell you like it is if it is in your own best interest and will drop everything to come to your aid if you need it. She might get frazzled every now and then with her spirited (and delightfully naughty) 3 ½ year old daughter and an extremely rotund 5 month old son, but you would hardly know it. She handles everything with aplomb, always recognizing that life is fluid and transient, and so is stress. A vegetarian herself, this gutsy woman can make the best fried chicken without having to taste it. She makes pesto by hand and rolls out the softest rolls, but would have no idea what the measurements are–they just “happen” to come out perfectly each time.
